What is a reverse harem genre?
A reverse harem is the gender opposite of a "straight"-harem, wherein a harem is directed towards male protagonists with women and/or gay men courting the protagonist. In a reverse harem, it focuses on female protagonists who are being courted by males and/or lesbians, usually seven or more.
What is the difference between a harem and a reverse harem?
Just as a harem is made up of one man with multiple women, a reverse harem consists of one female protagonist and three or more male love interests. However, this is not a situation where the woman must pick her one true love by the end of the novel; instead, the woman simply does not choose.
Do reverse harems exist?
It's rare, but it has occurred in the ethnographic record. It can make sense under severe conditions where it requires the efforts of more than one male to support a woman and her offspring. Usually the plural husbands are brothers.
Is Hwarang a harem?
