What color to wear to avoid wasps?
Wasps are drawn to brighter shades like yellows and whites because they look similar to the shades wasps look for from flowers and they're not attracted to darker shades like blues and blacks but for clothing, the safest bet is red because wasps just can't see it and therefore aren't attracted to it.
What clothes protect you from wasps?
Wear gloves, protective glasses, long pants, socks, shoes, a long-sleeved shirt and/or hoodie, hat, and a scarf. Use your scarf to cover the lower half of your face rather than just wrapping it around your neck.
Can wasps smell your fear?
No, yellowjackets can't detect fear pheromones in humans. The only reason they will attack you is if they perceive you as a threat to their nest, which will not happen if, for example, you're sitting at an outdoor cafe and there are yellowjackets all over the place.
