Can a galaxy hit another galaxy?

In about 4.5 billion years the Milky Way will smash into the Andromeda Galaxy in an event already dubbed the Andromeda-Milky Way collision. Astronomers are still attempting to predict what it will be like when the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way eventually collide.

Can a galaxy swallow another galaxy?

Yes, galaxies eat other galaxies. Or, less colloquially and more accurately, they collide and merge. If one galaxy is larger than the other, the smaller becomes a part of the bigger, subsumed and coalescing with it, the two nearly indistinguishable after an eon or two.

Can galaxies absorb other galaxies?

A merger is minor if one of the galaxies is significantly larger than the other(s). The larger galaxy will often "eat" the smaller, absorbing most of its gas and stars with little other significant effect on the larger galaxy.

Can a galaxy orbit another galaxy?

Yes. Our galaxy has a swarm of little galaxies orbiting it, as does the other big galaxy in our group, Andromeda. The Local Group is in turn orbiting the Virgo cluster of galaxies as part of the Virgo Supercluster.
